Ikat, Hot Colors, Ethnic Patterns

Did you know ikat prints have been around since the 19th century?  Ikat is the process of tye-dying individual threads in a complicated pattern and then weaving them into a beautiful print.  I love the way they're being reinterpreted today - they're so fresh and modern, although they are completely at home paired with traditional decor as well.  For the daring, they're such a good place to look for inspiration.  Pull one of the bright colors and use it on the walls or order yards of fabric for a chair or sofa.  Pair it with bright accessories in saturated colors such as hot pink, orange, purple, yellow and blue!  Think Bollywood or Marrakesh.  Too much for you?  Brighten up your neutral decor with just a touch on a bench cushion, desk chair pillows for your couch or a great rug.  It's also going to be a hot pattern for outdoor decor, seat cushions and pillows.  If it's still too much of a commitment try it on your tableware.  It'll be like a mini vaca in your backyard!
