These pictures are great examples of how, through the use of plants, you can literally bring life to a neutral room.  Plants are great to use because they naturally inject a room with beautiful shades of green  and by playing with the different textures you can easily soften the harsh lines of a contemporary room.  They're also great for the air you breathe!  If you want a pick me up during this long winter months, it's worth a trip to your local nursery to investigate which plants do well indoors.  I vote for the lacy leaf of a fern and  of course, I love orchids.  After seeing these pictures I'm inspired to check out something a little more dramatic, possible a small tree.  I also love the fact that their are so many ways to use plants, herbs in the kitchen, something potted, a hanging basket, a garland, a vase of tree branches etc.  Let your creativity run wild but  please make sure whatever you bring inside is not poisonous to humans or animals.

  1. I love the pictures you chose with the mixture of neutral colors and greens. House plants always make a room more cozy...bringing a little of the outside in! I'm still learning what houseplants do best here in Colorado, and sadly, orchids just don't fare well for me. :( I just repotted some plants yesterday in hopes that they'll grow nice and big for spring/summer!
