Decorating for Valentines Day
As I said before I loooove Valentines Day. It's one of four holidays I really decorate for. The others are Halloween, Christmas and Easter. It does become overwhelming when you go into a superstore and find aisles and aisles of adorable decorations. It's hard not to buy everything in sight! The first thing you must do is compose yourself, take a deep breath and then check to see if it falls into one of these three categories.
1. For me it has to be sparkly, glittery or look vintage. You must come up with your own criteria whether it be a specific color or it must have lace or maybe you really, really like cupids....
2. I try to add one quality piece a year. When I say quality I don't mean something that costs a lot. Usually these purchases are made at Homegoods or Marshalls and are somewhere between $6-$10. I do this because it really keeps the amount of decorations I have under control. Of course I may still add a few from the dollar bin somewhere.
3. How is it going to function for you. I usually try to pick one area (for me it's my kitchen island) and really have at it. I DO NOT repeat DO NOT cover every surface of my house and I try to avoid anything that will be a dust collector and take up valuable table space. It is such a major pain to be moving over a valentine decoration so that you can set the table! Instead try hanging something from the light fixture!
