Tackle Superbowl Like A Champ!
I am of the opinion that more people do not entertain because it's time consuming, overwhelming and can be expensive. Superbowl can be one of the easiest parties to throw and let me tell you it will earn some wife/girlfriend points. If your single even better! Have a party and ask your guy friends to bring their friends. Everyone will want to know all about the cool girl throwing a football party.
First of all, no one looks at how clean your house is. I never clean before a party with the exception of the bathrooms. I don't think I need to say more about that. I do straighten up and vacuum the main room because if carpet is vacuumed, magically the whole room looks clean.
Second, enlist your hubby or guy friends to be in charge of the TV, setting up the room, bringing in extra seating and any betting pools you may have. They won't go to the grocery store or cook but trust me they will do this and it's a big part of the party!
Alcohol. You don't need to worry about a full bar. Stock up on beer and make one pitcher drink that guys and girls will like. It will cut down on the liquor expense and the work of setting out a whole bar. There's a recipe below but also look for sangria recipes or maybe something with ginger ale.
Food. Here's where the misconception comes in. We do not need to eat the buffet of food that most people put out. Make it simple - most of the eating on Superbowl is mindless eating that takes place while watching TV. Not to mention people leave feeling bloated, tired and irritated. Follow the advice of Bethanny Frankel (skinny girl) and put out a taco bar or make a huge pot of chili with some sides. One of my favorite's is a pannini bar that you prepare before hand and everyone can put their own sandwich together. You do not need to have the pizza, chips, chicken wings, subs etc. etc. Don't forget good old fashion popcorn. It's easy to make lots on the stove and it's so darn cheap! For desert do something individual and easy like cookies! If they're homemade even better and warm them up before you put them out they will be so satisfying on their own no one will be asking for anything else.
Don't forget everyone will bring something so decide ahead of time what people can bring like beer or a bottle of liquor for the pitcher drink or a desert. If you don't tell them what to bring they'll usually bring something anyway and you'll end up with duplicates and spend money that you don't need to.
Not Yo' Mamma's Lemonade
one 12-ounce can thawed frozen lemonade concentrate
one 750 ml. bottle vodka
2 cups spiced rum
3/4 cup of limoncello
sliced lemons to garnish
Combine all ingredients except garnish in a pitcher that holde at least 85 ounces. Stir well - can be served immediately or covered and refridgerated until ready. Pour in glass, garnish with a lemon slice and you're good to go!
