Seems to me that candy used to be more fun back in the day. What's everyone giving out this year? Anything new, fresh and interesting? Every year I think I'll try something different and I always resort to the same ole Snickers, 3 Musketeers, M&M value pack....snore! Then, I gorge myself on that same candy my kids bring home in their bags!
Did you do any fun activities this Halloween season? We visited Tillson Street in Romeo, Michigan. Every house on the block is decorated. They go all out - picture skeleton pirates on a huge ship, hearses parked in the front yard, dancing ghosts in every window and a ghoulish masquerade ball. After I leave I wish I had the energy to pump up my decorations a bit.....maybe next year. I can't wait until my kids are old enough to do really scary things like a real, live haunted house. The first house on the right is Loretta Lynn's estate in Tennessee. It is haunted by a women who lost her child in the house. The second dates back to 1692 and was the home of a judge from the Salem Witch trials and the third is on a plantation in Louisiana and is the home to a slave ghost names Chloe who wears a green bonnet because her ear was cut off! Ohhhhh, so freaky and so fun!
I love carving pumpkins and every year I'm so sad to see them go. I think it's such a charming tradition and I love going home to home to see what my neighbors have come up with. Last year at my son's party we put party hats on our pumpkins and we have put masks on them before. I love these masks that look more vintage and I'm crazy about the scarecrow pumpkin. I also love initials and words carved out of pumpkins. My friend Amy always looks for bumpy pumpkins with "warts" or anything else she can use to be creative. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend full of cider, doughnuts, cider mills, hayrides and putting finishing touches on costumes, decorations and pumpkins!
